The challenge

Capufe, short for Caminos y Puentes Federales, is a public body responsible for Mexico’s highways
and bridges. For the sixteen toll plazas on the Mexico City-Acapulco highway and the enormous 51-lane La Marquesa toll plaza just west of the capital, Capufe needed a video surveillance solution that would complement its newly installed toll collection system. Integration with a third-party video management system was a key requirement, as was the ability to display text information within video streams for verification purposes.

The solution

Together with systems integrator Prosis, we decided to furnish the toll booths with the BC620WDR and IFD820V1IR. The former is an award-winning network box camera, the latter a high-definition fixed-dome camera with a built-in infrared illuminator. Both feature automatic day/night functionality, backlight compensation and wide dynamic range.

Incorporating the cameras into the IProNet video management system and GEA toll collection system proved straightforward. Like all our hardware, the BC620WDR and IFD820V1IR are based on our Open Streaming Architecture (OSA) API, a set of open communication protocols. They are also fully compliant with ONVIF Profile S, a widely used industry standard ensuring trouble-free interoperability between products of different makes. Moreover, the BC620WDR features an additional analogue output for easy integration into hybrid environments.

Thanks to our open network technology, Capufe is now able to quickly serve its customers and automatically turn the accompanying video streams into detailed audit reports.
